Portrait of Jeanne Hebuterne - Amadeo Modigliani. 91,4x73
The artist and the companion of her life Jeanne Hebuterne Amadeo Modigliani (1884-1920) often wrote, portraying her with her head slightly bowed, emphasizing the thin elongated features of her face, her supple figure, and filling her with an even blue eye color. But at the same time, each portrait of Jeanne in composition, surroundings and color is a completely new work, expressing such an astonishment of the artist by his beloved, as if he were drawing it for the first time.
In the presented portrait, Jeanne is depicted sitting in an armchair, she is dressed in a lower shirt, her hair is loose. In all its guise, defenselessness and slight blissful weakness, as happens in a person who has recently woken up from sleep, are visible. Soft colors - white, ocher, blue - create a warm and bright color of the picture.
Modigliani painted this portrait of his wife and muse during a serious illness, shortly before her death and the death of Jeanne, who could not bear the separation from her beloved.
