In one of the villages of Ukraine there is a rather unusual museum, which carries the entire history of the railways of Ukraine and the places located next to it. Let us consider this museum in more detail.

Kolchavskaya narrow gauge railway

This wonderful museum is located in the village of Kolochava. The village itself can be found in the Intercity region of the Transcarpathian region. For locals, the museum is a great subject of pride, because it is the only Museum of Railway History in Transcarpathia. Unfortunately, there are not so many exhibits in the museum, just one rare steam locomotive and ten wagons, as well as several narrow gauge railways that fully function to the delight of tourists. Thanks to its creators, the museum has a wonderful atmosphere, and friendly guides are ready to introduce everyone to the history of the railway.

A few words about the history of railways in Ukraine

The history of the emergence of the railway in Galicia dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, when a group of craftsmen studied thoroughly the technology of production of the railway, while in England, where, by the way, the first railway line was made already in 1825. After the technical base was ready, a railway project emerged that would connect East Galicia with the city of Vienna. The Northern Iron Name of Emperor Ferdinand Society began to build its part of the road from Vienna to Bochnia, and its Galician industrialists. The terms of the entire line were as short as possible, as cheap labor was used, which saved money and allowed construction to be carried out continuously. At this rate, by 1861, the first train was launched, moving along the Przemysl-Lviv route. The construction did not stop, new railway lines appeared, linking cities and towns among themselves.

Museum exhibits

Each car, of that rare steam locomotive, reflects all eras of Ukraine. By the way, at one of the competitions in Ukraine, in 2009, the museum took 3rd place in the nomination Best Exposition Design. In addition to wagons, the main pride of the museum is the locomotive itself, which was produced in 1951 in Germany. By some miracle, he avoided parsing for scrap. All visitors to the museum are invited to ride on a narrow gauge railway. The museum’s exposition includes a lumberjack trailer by Ivan Chusu, which is fully operational and constantly carries tourists.

In conclusion, we can say that Museum Kolochavskaya narrow gauge It is important to visit everyone who is interested in the history of the railway.
